Let It All Come Down

When I woke up this morning it was already snowing. Heavy and vertical, through the net curtain it looked exactly like rain. Grey light filtered through the window, the sky dismal and overcast. Will this winter ever end?

should have picked Berlin... two days in a row I've been waking up to sunshine and extremely lively birds (including a magpie). Spring in the air, puts spring in my step. Takes some getting used to though after the long grey winter. A week in England will make me appreciate it all the more.

My students were talking wistfully of England just the other day. "It's 14 degrees in London," sighed one.

Next thing you know they'll be saying they like the food.

PS Not just one magpie I hope. A bad omen...

I only saw one although it was loud enough for 2.. the other one might just have made noise and then gone AWOL

As for the weather, forecast says no worries, rain & cold(ish) temperatures should be back by tomorrow.

You can break the bad omen by saying: "Good morning Mr/Mrs Magpie. How's Mrs/Mr Magpie?"

I always do it.

London, BTW, has been glorious all week, but it won't last.

's been nice enough so far. If it lasts for the weekend I'd be chuffed. Though there was no need to leave Berlin as the forecast was wrong and it's been spring all week..
as for talking to magpies, I've been doing that for years, much to the amusement of my neighbours.. one of them days I'll probably get locked away..
