Something else I noticed: from next year they're planning to dole ID cards out with criminal record checks, which means that, even though I'll have a passport to prove my identity and a CRB check to prove I'm an upstanding member of the community, I'll be blackmailed into paying £100 solely in order to be able to do my job.
